Gretchen Del Rio

         There is a dimension beyond the physical which we all know within. It is a place of forgiveness and peace, protected by all cultures with deep spiritual roots. This is the space to which Gretchen Del Rio travels when she picks up a brush and begins to paint.
    Gretchen was born a natural creator and has had a successful artistic career for over thirty years. This artist is well known for challenging herself and mastering  mediums which are new to her. She carries accumulated techniques into each unexplored art form, resulting in work that is decidedly distinctive.
    Gretchen Del Rio earned her fine arts degree from Antioch West. Her background includes work in several art mediums. She has exhibited batik portraits and images In California galleries including two one woman shows. She has created hand painted, dyed wearable art which was marketed and exhibited and awarded in California. Del Rio has also illustrated several books and book covers. A line of greeting cards illustrated with her art is currently marketed internationally.
    In 1995 Del Rio responded to her love of the flowing, spontaneous quality of the watercolor and dye medium by painting her present distinctive collection of visionary watercolors. She has exhibited her watercolors in six one woman shows in California galleries and her paintings hang throughout the United States in private collections.
